Anticipating Katie Couric?

Tomorrow night’s the night: Katie Couric’s big debut on CBS Evening News. I admit I have already set the DVR — I am curious. I also was rather incensed by the recent incident in which Couric’s publicity photo was altered. Do you think anyone would have ever done that to a man?

    I don’t think it’s a secret that looks matter in broadcast journalism and particularly in the selection of news anchors. One need only watch any of our 24 hour news channels to confirm this. I’m not saying it’s right but the airbrushing of Ms Couric is merely another manifestation of our collective obssession with physical beauty.
